It started with a quiet obsession.

Long before my first candle was poured or perfume bottled, I was someone who noticed scent — the way it could shift a mood, mark a memory, make a space feel entirely different. That noticing turned into making. And making, eventually, turned into KITA.

I have been working with my hands for nearly twenty years. It started in 2005 — learning raw materials, formulation, the patience that good craft requires. Candles and home fragrance came next, then custom scent blending for private clients, then years spent helping other makers find their footing as an educator and technical adviser. By the time KITA came into my life, I had built something I didn’t yet have a name for: a deep, quiet confidence in the work.

KITA was originally founded by my dear friend Tanya, whose vision and creativity laid the foundation for something genuinely beautiful. When the opportunity came to carry it forward, I didn’t take it lightly. I took over in January 2023 — and I brought everything I had learned with me.

KITA is a female-owned, family-run fragrance house based in Cape Town. We have been handcrafting perfumes, candles, and home fragrances in small batches for years — using French oils from Grasse for our perfume range and locally sourced essential oils for our seasonal offerings. We don’t mass-produce. We take our time. That has always been the way.

What I’ve come to understand about KITA is this: it’s not about being the biggest or the loudest. It’s about being consistent, considered, and genuinely useful to the people who find us. A fragrance that becomes someone’s signature. A candle that changes how a room feels. A Discovery Set that helps someone find something they’ll wear for years.

That’s the work. And it’s work I’m proud of.
