Q1
What is Bespoke Manufacturing?
Bespoke Manufacturing is for businesses that already have a product concept, a fragrance direction, or a range they want to bring to market, and need a manufacturing partner to help develop and produce it.
This is different from Signature Scent Development, which is for clients who want KITA to create a fragrance from a brief. If you need a scent created from scratch around your identity, story or brand, that work happens on our
Signature Scent Development page. If you already know broadly what you want made and need it produced, packaged and delivered, that is what this page covers.
If you are not sure which service fits, that is completely fine. Tell us what you are trying to create and we will point you in the right direction.
Q2
What products can KITA manufacture?
KITA manufactures fragrance products and selected bulk hospitality products from our Cape Town studio and through our approved manufacturing network.
Our fragrance manufacturing work includes fine fragrance, candles, reed diffusers, room and linen mists, and fragrance-led gifting.
For hospitality clients, we also manufacture bulk personal care and fragrance amenities for guest rooms and public spaces, including shampoo, conditioner, two-in-one, body wash, bubble bath, lotion, bulk diffuser oil, and room and linen mist.
Projects may involve a single product, a branded guest-facing range, bulk hospitality supply, or a considered product programme across several touchpoints within a hospitality business.
Not every concept is suitable for every format, batch size, or intended use. We review the product requirements, compliance needs, and production scope before confirming what can be developed and supplied.
Q3
Do I need my own fragrance or formula?
No, not necessarily.
Some clients arrive with a fragrance already chosen or developed elsewhere. Others want to draw on KITA's existing fragrance library rather than commission something new.
Tell us what you already have, and what you still need, and we will confirm what is possible within a Bespoke Manufacturing project.
Q4
How does the manufacturing process work?
Every project begins with a brief covering the product, format, intended market, and quantities involved.
Once we understand the scope, we confirm production feasibility, development requirements, timelines, and the approval process before a formal quote is prepared.
Depending on the product, the project may include formulation or product development, fragrance selection, sampling, packaging review, and compatibility requirements.
The sampling and approval stages are defined as part of the project scope before work begins.
Once the agreed product has been approved, production is confirmed and scheduled.
Q5
Are there minimum order quantities?
Yes. Bespoke Manufacturing projects have minimum order quantities.
These vary depending on the product, format, fragrance, packaging, and production requirements involved.
A fine fragrance project does not carry the same production requirements as a bulk hospitality product or a candle range, so we do not apply one minimum quantity across every product we manufacture.
We confirm the applicable minimum order quantity after reviewing your manufacturing brief.
Q6
Where is my product manufactured?
Development and production take place through our Cape Town studio and our approved manufacturing network.
We work in small batches where the product allows, and our manufacturing practices are guided by GMP principles and applicable IFRA standards where fragrance is involved.
Packaging is sourced locally within South Africa. We do not import packaging on a client's behalf.
Q7
Who owns the formula or product?
KITA retains ownership of formulas developed within our studio unless a separate written formula transfer or buyout agreement is entered into.
Where a client supplies an existing formula, fragrance, intellectual property, or proprietary material, ownership and permitted use are defined within the manufacturing agreement.
Formula ownership, confidentiality, and any applicable intellectual property terms are confirmed before development or production begins.
