Yes. KITA creates bespoke personal fragrances for individuals across South Africa.
You might come to us with a memory. A person. A place you cannot quite forget. Or simply the feeling that none of the fragrances you have worn have ever felt completely like you.
You do not need to know your notes. You do not need to speak the language of perfumery.
That part is ours.
Your part is to tell us the story.

Almost anything meaningful can become the beginning of a fragrance.
A milestone. A wedding day. A new chapter. Someone you love. Someone you have lost. A place that still lives vividly in your memory.
Or perhaps there is no single moment behind it.
Perhaps you simply want a fragrance created around you.
The way you move through the world. The things you are drawn to. The scents you remember without trying. The feeling you want to leave behind when you walk out of a room.
We listen for the details that matter and begin there.

Can you create a fragrance around a memory or a person?
Yes. Memory is often one of the richest places to begin.
A garden your grandmother kept. The smell of your father's jacket. A coastline you return to in your head. The perfume you want to wear on your wedding day and remember twenty years from now.
We cannot recreate a memory exactly.
We can listen to what it means to you and begin building from there.

How is a bespoke personal fragrance created?
Every personal fragrance begins with a brief.
We ask about you, the scents you already respond to, the things you avoid and the memories or feelings connected to what you want to create.
From there, we review your brief and recommend the KITA development pathway best suited to your fragrance.
Your scent then moves through rounds of sampling and refinement. You smell. You live with it. You tell us what feels right and what does not.
We refine from there.
The process continues until the final fragrance is approved and ready to move into fine fragrance production in our Cape Town studio.

Do I need to know which fragrance notes I like?
No.
You are welcome to tell us about perfumes you already love or scents you naturally reach for, but you do not need to arrive with a list of top, heart and base notes.
Tell us that you love the smell of rain on warm ground.
Tell us your grandfather always smelled of tobacco and clean shirts.
Tell us you want something that feels green, quiet and a little strange.
Tell us you have absolutely no idea where to begin.
All of that is useful.
Fragrance language is our job. Your experience of scent is yours.

What is the difference between KITA Curated and KITA Original?
KITA offers two development pathways for signature scent creation.
KITA Curated develops a custom fragrance from our established studio fragrance library. Your brief guides the direction and the fragrance is refined through a collaborative sampling process.
KITA Original is developed from raw fragrance materials specifically around your brief and offers a broader original development process.

You do not need to choose a pathway before contacting us.
Once we have reviewed your fragrance brief, we will recommend the development route best suited to what you want to create.

Will my fragrance belong to me?
The answer depends on the development pathway used for your fragrance.
Formula ownership remains with KITA under KITA Curated.
KITA Original also remains studio-owned unless a formal formula buyout is agreed.
Exclusivity, formula ownership and any applicable fragrance commitments are explained clearly before development begins.
You will always know exactly what applies to your project before you commit.

Where is my fragrance made?
Your fragrance is developed and produced in our Cape Town studio.
Once the final formula is approved, we can carry it into fine fragrance production within KITA, allowing your scent to move from development to finished perfume without the need to bring in a separate fragrance manufacturer.
We work in small batches and our fragrance development and production practices are guided by GMP principles and applicable IFRA standards.
