About KITA

KITA is a fragrance house based in Cape Town, South Africa.

We believe fragrance can shape how people remember a person, a place, or a moment.

From our Cape Town studio, we create fragrance for individuals, brands, and hospitality across South Africa, and carry it into the products, spaces, and experiences where it belongs.

Every scent is chosen carefully. Every product is made by hand. Nothing here is rushed.

My Story

I’m Natlee Moonflower, and I’ve been running KITA since 2023.

But my relationship with making things by hand started long before that.

As a child, I was always creating. Whether I was making, building, experimenting, or working with my hands, I was happiest when I was creating something from nothing. Long before I understood formulation or fragrance, I had already fallen in love with the process of making.

In 2006, I began working for a small-scale glycerine soap manufacturer, where I spent nine years learning to make body products, washes, lotions, and decorative and herbal glycerine soaps by hand. That experience gave me a deep grounding in formulation, small-batch production, and the discipline of making products with care and consistency. It became the foundation for everything that followed.

I left that world for a time and went into corporate, but the craft never really let go. In 2018, I launched my own candle and home fragrance business, teaching myself the craft through experimentation, refinement, and a deep respect for the process. By 2019, I was blending fragrances for private clients, creating signature scents shaped around their spaces and their lives.

From 2020, I also worked as a technical advisor and educator for SA Candle Supply, teaching the craft to others while continuing to refine my own.

When my friend Tanya, KITA’s original founder, decided it was time to pass the business on, I knew it was the right next step. I took over in January 2023, bringing everything I had learned to KITA’s existing foundation and taking the time to make it genuinely mine. I stepped back from my role at SA Candle Supply that October to give KITA my full attention.

It wasn’t an overnight process. Rebranding takes honesty. It takes sitting with what works and being willing to let go of what doesn’t.

In 2026, KITA became what it was always moving towards — a house that creates scent. That clarity shapes everything we do now.

What We Make

Fragrance creation

Every fragrance we create follows one of three pathways. Library is a selection of ready-made KITA fragrances. Signature shapes a scent around you within a considered studio palette. Atelier is fully personal fragrance creation, worked on one-on-one with me, from the first conversation to the final scent.

Hospitality

Hotels, lodges, guesthouses, and spas come to us for fragrance that becomes part of how guests remember a property. Alongside fragrance created for a property, we offer The Studio Collection, our in-house hospitality fragrances, together with bulk amenities and commercial scenting.

White label

For brands that want fragrance products under their own name, we develop and produce candles, reed diffusers, room and linen mists, fine fragrance, and amenities in small batches, from our Cape Town studio and approved manufacturing network.

How We Work

Small-batch production

We do not mass-produce. Every product is made in limited quantities, with the consistency and attention to detail that only small batches allow.

Thoughtful sourcing

We choose our materials with care, and we work with local South African suppliers wherever we can.

Family-run, female-led

KITA is a family business. We work with local artisans and suppliers whenever possible, supporting the Cape Town community we are proud to be part of.
