Every fragrance we create begins with a conversation. What changes is how far that conversation goes.

Some people come to KITA knowing exactly what they want. Others arrive with a feeling, a place, or a brand they want people to remember. The pathways exist so that each of them can begin in the right place.

There are three — Library, Signature, and Atelier. Each one ends in a finished fragrance, made by hand in small batches in Cape Town.

Library — a KITA fragrance, chosen as it is

Library is a selection of ready-made KITA fragrances. You choose the one that feels right, and it becomes part of your space, your products, or your everyday.

It is the most direct way to work with KITA. Library fragrances are offered exactly as they are, without changes. Once you have chosen yours and signed off on it, it is ready to go.

Library suits a guesthouse that wants a considered scent in every room, a brand adding a candle to its range, or anyone who smells something in our collection and simply knows.

Signature — your fragrance, shaped within a considered palette

Signature begins with a palette we have built in the studio. Within it, we shape a scent around you, your brand, or your property.

You bring the brief. We work through it with you, refining as we go, until the fragrance feels like it could only belong to you.

Atelier — fully personal fragrance creation with Natlee

Atelier is the most personal work we do. You work one-on-one with Natlee Moonflower, KITA’s perfumer, in person, from the first conversation to the final scent.

There is no set palette here. The fragrance is created entirely around you — a memory, a person, a landscape, or a brand that needs something that does not yet exist.

How it begins

Every pathway begins with a discovery call. We talk through what you would like to create, and together we decide which pathway fits.

From there, we move into a consultation, and that is where the work of shaping your fragrance really starts.

Who works with KITA?

Hotels, lodges, guesthouses, and restaurants come to us for a fragrance that becomes part of how guests remember a property. Brands come for a scent of their own, or for fragrance products made under their own name through white label. Individuals come for a fragrance that belongs to them alone.

Each of them begins with the same three pathways.

What can your fragrance become?

Once your fragrance is approved, we can carry it into finished products made in our studio — candles, reed diffusers, room and linen mists, fine fragrance, and bulk amenities for hospitality.

Not every fragrance behaves the same way in every format. Where a scent needs adjusting to work well in a candle or a diffuser, we explain this before production begins.

Which pathway is right for me?

You don’t need to know before you contact us. Every pathway begins with a discovery call, and we decide on the right one together once we understand what you would like to create.

What is the difference between Library, Signature, and Atelier?

Library is an existing KITA fragrance, chosen as it is. Signature is shaped around your brief from a defined studio palette. Atelier is created entirely around you, working one-on-one with Natlee from start to finish.

Are KITA fragrances natural?

They can be. We work from a curated selection of naturals, fragrance compounds, and accords, and we choose whatever serves the fragrance best. If an all-natural fragrance matters to you, tell us in your brief and we will be honest about what is possible.

How long does fragrance creation take?

It depends on the pathway you choose. Fragrance creation at KITA takes anywhere from three months to a year, from our first conversation to your finished fragrance. Library is the quickest, because the fragrance already exists and is ready once you have approved it. Atelier takes the longest, because everything is created around you. Once we have read your brief, we will give you a realistic timeline for your project.

Where are KITA fragrances made?

Every fragrance is developed and made by hand in our studio in Cape Town. Our development and production practices are guided by GMP principles and applicable IFRA standards.

Do you work with clients outside Cape Town?

Yes. We create fragrance for individuals, brands, and hospitality properties across South Africa.
